The new covid variant is spreading and trying to ruin our daily activities again. To maintain our progress in fighting back COVID-19, here are some reminders from CSI.
1. Moist hands are the perfect spots for viruses to survive. Wash your hands carefully with soap for 20 seconds or more to remove harmful germs and chemicals every time before eating, after coughing or sneezing, or after touching shared things in public.
2. Wear masks indoors and at places where there is no sufficient air circulation. Although the World Health Organization (WHO) hasn’t announced how strong Omicron’s transmissibility is compared to other variants, the fact that this covid variant is becoming more dominant in all the current covid cases implies that we need to be extra cautious to prevent its spreading. Studies have shown that viruses can stay in the air for up to 3 hours. Thus, the best solution for us is to have our masks on all the time when we are out in public.
3. Hand sanitizer will be your good friend when you don’t have access to water and soap. Use at least a 60% alcohol-based sanitizer. It will serve a similar function as washing hands with soap. Keep some small bottles in your bag and car to keep yourself and others safe.
